Working musicians Ebri Yahloe, Erika Holycross, Jim Shaw, Matthew Morgan, and Chris Shaw will all lend their advice to those looking to make their next recording a step above. Part One: Preparation // February 26th 6:30p-8:30p
Are you ready and rehearsed? Do u have/need a band, or are you playing the instruments? Do you have your best songs lined up? Have you picked an engineer? What is your timeline? All these things and more go into preparing for that next recording, we will walk you through and give you the tools you need to make the best record possible.
Part Two: Recording // March 25th 6:30p-8:30p
Special guest music producer and multi instrumentalist Kito Denham will give attendees a realistic view into the world of recording with tangible tips for working musicians. Real world applications from a working music producer. Session includes interview, Q&A and group discussion, recording resources for musicians, studio recommendations, take away diy recording guide, and more. We will walk you through these steps and talk mixing, tracking, mastering, and everything that goes into the actual recording process.
Kito Denham BIO - Kito Denham; also known as Mayh3m!, is a multi-talented audio engineer, DJ, Producer and Recording Artist who has worked with many industry artists including Aesop Rock, Ghostface Killah, Spice One, Mac Lethal, Ras Kass, Young Dro, Talib Kweli, and many more. He runs Makeshift Studios in Reynoldsburg Ohio.
Part Three: Promotion // April 29th 6:30p-8:30p
You have the music, how do you let people know it exists? What options are out there to release music? Are you doing a release show, are you planning to tour? Jim Shaw, Erika Holycross, Chris Shaw, and Matthew Morgan will take you through multiple scenarios of how to promote your record. We will go through topics like social media, hiring a publicist, and building a successful album release show.
Part Four: Follow Up // May 27th 6:30p-8:30p
You’ve recorded, you’ve releases and promoted, how do you follow up? Get the most out of what you put in by putting in that work after the dust has settled. Heather will walk you through getting started in sync licensing, and talk about the many ways you can take your music further after its release.
