We seek to utilize the power of music to connect communities, especially ones that are often overlooked. Over the past several years we have worked in collaboration with many senior living facilities bringing out our beta songwriting program. In addition StoryPoint Senior Living, Danbury Columbus, and Cherry Blossom Senior Living we have worked in collaboration with GrowIn non profit who works specifically in the inner-generational learning space. Local songwriters work one on one with each population crafting songs with the different populations. Not only do these songwriting sessions provide enrichment for the community but also to the songwriters that participate. Different perspectives create new stories, and that's what these workshops are about. Contact c.topherjamesATgmailDOTcom for details on how you can be involved.
In 2020 the pandemic hit the elderly community with little to no live music. MYMF has been working on providing videos made by musicians in Ohio and beyond for this specific reason to be played in senior facilities under the moniker Songs For Seniors. Check them out on the youtube page Songs For Seniors with Jim Shaw. Jim, has been working hard to put together these videos reaching out to musicians (like this one with Bill Cohen) and nursing homes to connect them with this resource and they have been well received by the community.
